Position Description: The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a federally funded program that teaches low-income families how to prepare healthy meals on a budget and engage in more physical activities to reduce the risk of chronic disease. The EFNEP Supervisor/Research Associate I/II contributes to the management of EFNEP, staff development of EFNEP peer (paraprofessional) educators and the development and maintenance of program materials. This position will be housed in the Denver metro area and serves as an EFNEP Supervisor and assists with EFNEP related research projects. A successful candidate will bring experience that provides evidence of drive and initiative; the individual in this position must be a self- starter. EFNEP Supervisor responsibilities include providing training and direct supervision for EFNEP peer educators in multiple Colorado counties within the Denver metro region, leading the implementation of approved nutrition education programs following EFNEP guidelines to ensure program fidelity and success and building successful and sustainable relationships with professionals from agencies such as WIC, SNAP, TANF, public housing, K12 schools and others, to establish EFNEP peer educator recruitment and teaching opportunities. Research support responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of research project protocols and assisting with data collection. This position supports the EFNEP Coordinator with curricula maintenance, EFNEP work plan development and grant reporting, and other duties as assigned. The classification of Research Associate I or II will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Research Associate I: Completed bachelor’s degree with emphasis in human nutrition or related field and up to 3 years relevant experience.

Research Associate II: Completed bachelor’s degree with emphasis in human nutrition or related field and more than 3 years relevant experience.

AND

Demonstrated skill working with people as individuals and in groups

Ability to communicate (oral, written and listening skills) as demonstrated by formal training, experience, and application materials

Demonstrated organizational and project management skills

Experience delivering and/or managing a community or educational program

Familiarity with different socio-economic audiences, an interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds

Ability to work non-traditional hours occasionally (weekends and evenings)

Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

Ability to travel across Denver metro counties (up to 5 days a week)

Preferred Qualifications: Completed master’s degree with emphasis in human nutrition or related field

Experience in Public Health and/or Nutrition Education program planning, implementation, and evaluation, targeting diverse, limited resource audiences

Prior experience hiring, training, supervising, motivating, and coaching peer (paraprofessional) educators

Experience in promoting, marketing, or creating public awareness of programs or services

Training and/or experience in research methods, data collection and/or program evaluation

Experience in securing financial support for educational programs including in-kind contributions, cost sharing, fundraising, etc.
