Staff Clinician

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Office of the Clinical Director within the Office of the Director, NIAID, seeks a candidate to serve as an infectious disease staff clinician in clinical and translational research.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated clinician- scientist who will provide direct clinical care to patients enrolled in intramural clinical protocols at the NIH Clinical Center and outpatient clinics. The clinical care will be mainly focused on prevention and management of infections for patients enrolled in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and gene therapy protocols. The incumbent will serve as a primary investigator or project member for research projects of broad and complex scope to treat problems that are exceptionally difficult and/or require unconventional or novel approaches or complex research techniques. They will analyze, evaluate, and interpret scientific and clinical data to prepare papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at seminars and scientific meetings.

The clinician will provide teaching and mentorship to clinical staff, including infectious disease fellows.
