Purpose of Job The purpose of this position is to provide medical care and participate in clinical operations across CEDEP Clinical Services in the Ryan White Center of Excellence (COE), the Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program, and the Communicable Disease Control Clinic (CDC).
Essential Functions: Clinical Care Management: Reviews medical history, nature of present illness, and laboratory results; performs physical examinations; manages medication and treatment plans
COE: Manages HIV through antiretroviral therapy (ART), indicates and reviews routine lab results, and provides limited primary care and preventive screenings per program guidelines
TB: Manages suspected or confirmed active and latent tuberculosis infections per program guidelines
CDC: Provides HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) services; consults with Public Health Nurses (PHNs) regarding sexually transmitted infections (STI) treatment beyond PHN protocols and evaluates patients for neurosyphilis
Counseling and Education: Advise patients of disease processes and treatment options, as well as indicated procedures and recommendations, including vaccines, cervical and anal Papanicolaou (Pap) smears, recommended preventive screenings, and imaging studies
Clinical Procedures: Performs specimen collections, including anal and cervical paps and 3-compartment STI testing; administer vaccines
Collaboration: Works alongside clinic team members, supervising physician, and internal and external partners to coordinate patient care
Compliance: Ensures compliance with all program guidelines, protocols, and organization practices
Professional Development: Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field; engages in ongoing professional continuing education
