| Position Description: |
The Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors (NALHD) seeks a strategic, collaborative, and visionary Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization into its next phase as an organization. As one of Nebraska's most influential public health organizations, the next ED will have the opportunity to shape the future of local public health by strengthening partnerships, influencing policy, and advancing innovative solutions that improve the health and well- being of Nebraska's communities.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and serving as the organization's chief executive, the Executive Director will champion NALHD's mission while engaging with statewide partners, including government officials and the public, to advance public health initiatives through NALHD's strategic goals. The ideal leader will serve as an effective, visionary change agent, be an inspiring relationship builder, and be a trusted leader who will unite diverse perspectives around a shared vision for healthier communities.

| Qualifications: |
Some specific requirements include: • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in leadership and management, with documented ability to manage staff, lead teams, and partner with a Board of Directors. Preferably within a public health arena. • Proven ability to build strong external relationships with a variety of volunteers, public leadership, partner organizations, and other stakeholders. • Deep understanding of the distinct operational, resource, and political differences between large metropolitan health agencies and small rural departments. • Demonstrated success navigating public policy, advocating before legislative or regulatory bodies, and building coalition networks with state health agencies, allies, or trustees. • Proven experience writing, managing, and reporting on federal, state, or private grants, coupled with a track record of advocacy at the state or federal level. • Master’s degree in public health, Health Administration, or a similar field is preferred, but not required.

Founded in 2010, the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors (NALHD) serves as a collaborative hub that amplifies the impact of local public health departments at both the state and local levels. NALHD is a professional association and Nebraska’s designated affiliate of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). Guided by a vision of a collaborative local public health system serving all Nebraskans, NALHD provides the shared infrastructure through which members leverage resources, pursue organizational excellence, facilitate peer learning, and advocate effectively for strong public health policy.
