Purpose of Job
The purpose of this classification is to provide basic patient care or treatments as well as certain administrative duties.
Essential Functions
The Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse- Women’s Health is responsible for the following essential functions:
Prepare patients for medical treatments under direct supervision of clinical nurse program manager, nurses and nurse practitioners
Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate and prepare examination room
Collect health information and accurately document in electronic health record system
Administer vaccinations and other injections as needed
Issue medications prescribed by provider
Perform phlebotomy and specimen packing and transport
Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medical personnel in charge
Sterilize equipment and supplies
Communicate moderately complex information to coworkers and patients
Maintains knowledge of legal limitations while performing job functions.
Participates in continuing education programs, attends of in-service training annually; attends mandatory CPR class yearly; attends regular staff meetings
Perform other duties as assigned by the clinical manager
