The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a Health Program Associate to serve as the Credentialing and Medical Staff Services Specialist within the Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) system. In this specialized administrative role, you will manage, monitor, and maintain credentialing and privileging functions for practitioners across the hospital, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting the safe devlivery of clinical care.
This position is essential in maintaining operational integrity, strenthening medical staff governance, and supporting a high-performing clinical workforce.
HIGHLIGHTS FACILITY: Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) LOCATION: Middletown, CT SCHEDULE: Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (First Shift) POSITION NUMBER: 87992
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL Plan, coordinate, and oversee the hospital?wide credentialing and privileging program Manage timely credentialing actions, committee reviews, and regulatory compliance Coordinate verification and reporting with state licensing boards, NPDB, educational institutions, and credential verification organizations Work collaboratively across clinical and administrative departments to ensure continuous monitoring and compliance with Joint Commission and medical staff standards Serve as the primary liaison among medical staff leadership, licensing boards, accrediting bodies, and external partners Prepare credentialing, privileging, and performance?monitoring reports for hospital leadership Develop and maintain standardized workflows, policies, timelines, and quality measures supporting efficient and compliant operations Provide subject matter expertise, technical guidance, and high?level administrative support to CVH leadership Perform complex administrative duties to support medical staff governance and hospital operations

| Qualifications: |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Seven (7) years of professional experience in a health organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in health care program administration, a health systems agency or other health care organization in at least one of the following areas:
-grant writing or monitoring; -formal program planning, development, management or evaluation; p-rogram consultation; -public relations activities.
For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Health Program Assistant 2.
NOTE: A health care organization is defined as a large multi-dimensional agency with responsibility for developing health programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
1. College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. 2. A Master's degree in health education, hospital administration, public administration, public health or other closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
For state employees one (1) year as a Health Program Assistant 2 may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience managing medical staff credentialing and privileging in a hospital or healthcare setting. Experience supporting medical staff governance and credentialing committees. Experience developing and improving credentialing workflows, policies, monitoring tools, and compliance processes. Experience using organizational and project-management skills to manage multiple deadlines, expirable, and regulatory requirements simultaneously. Experience collaborating and communicating with physicians, executive leadership, and multiple stakeholders. Experience providing direct administrative support to Chief- suite (C-suite) executives, including preparing confidential correspondence and serving as a liaison between executives and internal and external stakeholders. Experience coordinating comprehensive travel and logistics for executives, including multi-location site visits and industry conferences. Experience managing multiple dynamic calendars, prioritizing meetings, and resolving scheduling conflicts in real time. Experience using advanced features of Microsoft applications, including creating pivot tables in Excel, designing polished presentations in PowerPoint, utilizing Outlookâs meeting and scheduling tools, and using cross- platform collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
