Position Description: The Department of Epidemiology at Tulane University’s Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine invites applications for an open-rank tenure- track or tenured faculty position. We seek an outstanding investigator to assume a leadership role in the Bogalusa Heart Study (BHS) and help shape the next era of this landmark longitudinal cohort. For more than 50 years, the Bogalusa Heart Study has followed children and adults in a community in southeastern Louisiana. It is one of the world’s longest-running health studies, notable for a biracial population and location in the rural South and has generated an extraordinary body of research on cardiovascular and life-course health. The successful candidate will have substantial opportunity to develop the scientific vision for the next phase of BHS, lead new externally funded investigations, expand interdisciplinary collaborations, and mentor the next generation of investigators. Potential research areas include cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease, aging and cognitive health, life-course epidemiology, and other areas that can capitalize on the unique BHS resources. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related field and have a strong record of scholarly research. Evidence of independent research, collaboration, and mentorship is important. Experience managing cohort data collection, cross-institution collaborations, and complex data structures is highly valued. Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, with tenure status as appropriate. Tulane offers a highly collaborative environment for population health research, with strong programs in epidemiology, cardiovascular disease, maternal and child health, aging, data science, genetics and genomics, and clinical and translational research. Review of applications will begin as soon as possible, and applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. Applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research plan and contact information for at least three professional references to:
