Position Description: We are ecstatic to announce that the REACH Study (https://reachstudy.ucsf.edu) is seeking a remote student researcher to join us in January 2027! The REACH Study aims to understand preferences in and access to medication abortion care throughout the United States. We are wrapping up quantitative data collection this year and anticipate having survey data from over 2,000 study participants on their medication abortion experience.

Applications for Student Researchers will be open through Fall 2026, and we welcome inquiries from doctoral students looking to fulfill their independent research projects or interested in studying medication abortion as part of their dissertation research. Students will lead the development of a research article, resulting in a published paper. They will work with the study team to develop a research question, develop an outline and analysis plan, conduct the data analysis, write the manuscript, and lead the journal submission and revision process, until it is accepted. Potential study topics may include (but are not limited to) abortion costs, digital barriers, ways people learn about medication abortion sources, and abortion stigma. Students will receive mentorship from other students, staff, and faculty on the REACH team as well as a $5,000 stipend for their involvement, paid upon paper submission.
