Position Description: We are currently seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to join the Health Literacy and Learning Program (HeLP) within General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics at Northwestern University. Reporting to the Project Lead, the Research Coordinator will primarily work on one of HeLP’s federally funded research studies, LitCog, which examines the relationship between health literacy, cognition, and performance on health tasks. LitCog is a longitudinal cohort study that recruits older adults from multiple sites throughout Chicago.

Position Responsibilities:

•Recruiting, scheduling, and tracking study participants

•Completing in-person interviews with study participants, consisting of a 2-hour battery of health literacy and cognitive assessments

•Maintaining day-to-day study logistics, including management of study participants’ files

•Assisting the Project Lead with the coordination of the study

•Assisting with abstract and manuscript development, as needed

•Assisting with other projects within HeLP, as needed

Qualifications: •Bachelor’s Degree

•Prior research experience preferred

•Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

•Detail-oriented

•Experience with Microsoft Office applications

•Ability to work well both independently on a self-directed basis and in a team environment

•Interest in public health, health literacy, cognition, health behaviors, health outcomes

Organization Description: HeLP seeks to advance the study of limited health literacy and effective interventions that could improve one’s ability to obtain, process, and understand basic information needed to make appropriate health decisions.
