Position Description: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, seeks a Project Specialist (Grant funded) to provide operations, technical, and programmatic support for activities related to Pediatric Research in Online Strategy (PROS) research in primary care practices, as well as provide staff support to supervisor.

Some tasks include: • Manage operations and execution of studies as assigned. • Develop study recruitment and data collection materials, implement and coordinate recruitment efforts, and generate recruitment reports. • Establish and maintain effective communications with Fellows and other PROS investigators to ensure scientific integrity and progress of activities for assigned projects. • Develop and maintain databases to track communications and progress of assigned studies. • Manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals at AAP and local study sites; collect IRB assurances and Human Subjects training certificates, and ensure adherence to Human Subjects’ Protection and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements for assigned projects. • Provide support to supervisor and PROS Director on development and graphic presentation of data reports and dissemination to diverse audiences related to PROS and other assigned projects. • Prepare descriptive statistical reports for assigned projects. • Represent the network and/or other activities at professional research conferences and committee meetings as required. • Develop and monitor budgets for assigned projects.

Qualifications: Qualifications Needed: • Two to four years’ experience required in health services research, including research operations and research activities such as formatting of data collection and study tracking materials, data collection/entry, database maintenance, and graphic presentation of data and materials to diverse audiences. Familiarity with descriptive statistics and experience with child health research issues and primary care practice highly desirable. • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in social/behavioral sciences or related field required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. • Must pay close attention to detail, be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously within competing deadlines. • Excellent verbal/written communication, analytical, and organization skills required, as well as proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with statistical software for graphical presentation of data. • Some evening/weekend work and travel required.
