Position Description: The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (the School) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy at their Asheville satellite campus ( The successful candidate will work with researchers at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) to expand translational and applied health economics research that is impactful for health delivery systems locally and nationally. This position represents an exciting opportunity to leverage the unique data resources of MAHEC to conduct cutting edge research in the areas of pharmacoeconomics, economic evaluation of health services, and comparative effectiveness. MAHEC is dedicated to serving as a national leader in improving care in the areas of: substance use and mental health, pain management, women’s health, rural health, and geriatrics. The successful candidate will maintain a research portfolio consistent with one or more of these areas. Candidates with previous experience in collecting and analyzing clinical data to examine the costs of pharmaceutical outcomes, practices and/or policies are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: Applicants should ideally possess a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in health economics, economics, pharmaceutical outcomes, or a related discipline. The position requires the candidate to have a track record of peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate scientific contributions in the area of applied health economics. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program and mentor student research projects in this area. Additionally, he or she will provide professional and graduate student instruction and serve the University and their discipline. The ability to participate in a collegial environment that fosters ongoing collaboration with local community partners, healthcare partners, and faculty from a wide variety of disciplines is essential. This academic appointment comes with the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor commensurate with experience and qualifications based on the successful candidate’s area of expertise.

Organization Description: The School and MAHEC are part of the larger academic enterprise of the UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC campus, which also includes the UNC School of Medicine-Asheville Campus, the UNCA/UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and Western Carolina University Nursing and Allied Health Programs. The UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC campus is located in beautiful Asheville, which is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and has a vibrant local arts and cultural scene.
