Position Description: The Department of Health Management and Informatics at the College of Health and Public Affairs, invites applications for tenure-earning or tenured positions for the Health Care Informatics program at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor, to begin August 2018.

The successful candidate will (will perform research and teaching in the area of healthcare informatics and may also teach in health services administration programs. Interdisciplinary scholarship and grant funding for research are encouraged. A candidate appointed with tenure at the associate or full professor levels will be expected to assume leadership roles in scholarship, grant application and management, program development as well as in mentoring junior faculty and graduate students. A successful senior candidate may be asked to assume a leadership role in developing a doctoral program in healthcare informatics. Salary is contingent upon experience.

Significant teaching takes place in fully online formats or mixed mode (mixed online and traditional) and the selected candidates are expected to become comfortable teaching online if they are not already. UCF has world renowned infrastructure and support for online teaching.

The positions are 9-month appointments with a competitive salary fully covered by budget with no soft money funding requirements. Faculty have the ability to supplement their salary by up to 30% with grant funding applied to summer appointments. Summer teaching appointments are often available but are not guaranteed and a variety of internal competitive research grants are typically available but also not guaranteed.

Qualifications: Candidates may qualify for this position through:

1) A doctoral degree in Health Care Informatics, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Services Administration, or a related health discipline from an accredited institution and industry or academic experience in health informatics research;

(2) A doctoral degree in Management Information Systems, Applied Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Epidemiology, or a related information technology discipline from an accredited institution and industry or academic experience in healthcare informatics;

(3) Terminal medical doctorate such as MD, DO, Pharm.D., etc., from an accredited institution with industry or academic experience in healthcare informatics.

The successful candidate must have a terminal degree (as indicated above) from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment. ABD’s will be considered.

The successful candidate with eligibility for a tenured associate or full professor upon hire must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, documented research, external funded projects/research and teaching experience.

Preferences: will be given to candidates with a research focus in one or more of the following areas:

• Biostatistics or a wide range of analytic disciplines including, but not limited to decision analysis, statistics, management science or operations research, or managerial economics. • Health data management including, but not limited to relational database design and use, data warehousing, health- specific data storage structures, data integration, data communication, or geographic information systems. • Systems analysis and design, workflow analysis and process improvement, decision support systems including clinical decision support, evidence based medicine. • Epidemiology and public health.

Organization Description: The candidates will join the Department of Health Management & Informatics which includes the nation's largest graduate and undergraduate programs in health services administration (HSA), an Executive Graduate Healthcare Management program (e- MSHSA), a fully online graduate program in Healthcare Informatics (HCI), and an undergraduate program in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM). The master's in HSA and baccalaureate in HIIM are accredited by CAHME and CAHIIM, respectively and the undergraduate HSA program is certified by AUPHA.
