Position Description: The position is a contributing member of multiple research, technical assistance, policy development, and programmatic teams depending on scope of work. The center’s current scope of work includes health care access, health insurance, health policy, child health and child policy, school health, long-term care, cancer, community health system development, public health systems, social determinants of health equity and Medicaid. The RC I will provide research and project support that contributes to the scientifically sound ground for center activities. In addition, the RC I will coordinate special projects as assigned by senior staff, facilitate meetings, assist in the development of grants, assist in the preparation, coordination and dissemination of various GHPC communication materials.

The scope of responsibility will include these specific areas/duties but is not limited to the following,

Administrative

Assists in the administrative management of grants and contracts

Manages logistics for sponsor-funded meetings, trainings, and workshops including catering as needed

Coordinates materials for meetings and trainings

Supervises and assigns work to student assistants

Attends project meetings and takes meeting notes as needed

Coordinates the credit card payments associated with sponsored project budgets

Distributes financial reports to project managers

Coordinates time and leave activities

Processes payment vouchers for travel done by research team members and consultants

Research Support and Coordination

Attends project meetings to gain knowledge of research area

Collects and organizes qualitative and quantitative research data

Uses research software to analyze data

Analyzes and interprets research data

Participates in project dissemination activities

Coordinates research activities

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in assigned research area; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: It is expected that the candidate will have knowledge of general health policy and qualitative and quantitative research skills.

Organization Description: The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), established in 1995, provides evidence- based research, program development and policy guidance on local, state and national levels to improve health status at the community level. GHPC mission is to integrate research, policy, and programs to advance health and well-being. Housed within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, the GHPC, has more than 100 diverse public and private clients on local, state, and national level and has worked in more than 800 communities across the country. The GHPC offers a wide-range of evidence-based qualitative and quantitative research, evaluation, and translation services as well as technical assistance to communities and decision makers. We draw on experience from more than 100 projects supported by more than 100 diverse clients. All of our work falls into one or more of the following categories: research, policy, programs and the points in between. With more than two decades of experience, the GHPC is at work nationwide, focusing on solutions to some of the toughest issues facing health care today, including: child health and well- being, community and public health, community health systems development, health care reform, health in all policies, long-term services and supports, private policy and grants management, and public and private insurance coverage.
