Position Description: The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a full time Project Officer position to support water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities in healthcare facilities in Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. This position is full time and works 40 hours a week. The Project Officer will be hired by the CDC Foundation and assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Clifton campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The position will be located in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) within the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch.

The Project Officer will be an integral part of a four-person WASH team, providing most of the Atlanta based support for the WASH in healthcare facilities baseline and follow-up evaluations. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Analytical support:

• Assist in the development of data collection tools to be used in all four project countries

• Provide remote support to team members in the field during data collection

• Conduct analyses, compile key findings, and write reports and other briefs

• Periodic international travel (5%) – Project Officer will not necessarily travel to every project country, but will participate in at least one trip in order to understand the overall program as well as the data collection process

Administrative support:

• Assist in tracking project funding

• Participate in regular calls with project partners

• Maintain project records, including notes from calls and meetings

• Maintain project share drive, including documentation of data analysis processes

• Liaise with CDC to coordinate procurement of study supplies (particularly lab equipment)

Qualifications: • Masters degree in public health or a related field

• Minimum of 3 years work experience in data management, quantitative analysis, and program support

• Experience synthesizing data into reports • Strong working knowledge of SAS

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Superb organizational skills and high attention to detail

• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary (epidemiologists, medical officers, public health advisors) team

• Passion and drive to improve public health

• Track record showing initiative – does what is necessary to complete project goals without being directed explicitly to do so

• Experience programming Open Data Kit (ODK) and analyzing ODK survey outputs

• Experience in qualitative data methods (working knowledge of MAXqda desirable)

• Experience in program planning – creating GANTT charts, keeping track of competing deadlines and deliverables, etc.

• Global health field experience (1+ years based in sub-Saharan Africa or similar context is an advantage)

• Experience in conducting program evaluations, either internationally or domestically

• French language skills strongly preferred
