Position Description: Conducts pre-employment and required annual physicals under a joint practice agreement with a licensed physician on employees of the Metropolitan Government; delivers care directed toward health maintenance and the management of acute illness; collaborates with public health nurses on health maintenance problems; consults with physician preceptor on any deviations from protocol.

Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and biohazard/safety techniques; provides for cost-effective use of resources; monitors drugs, vaccines, biologicals, and laboratory services; conserves use of supplies and materials; submits billing statements to Metro departments to ensure prompt payment of services rendered; monitors staff activity, performance and productivity; supervises multidisciplinary staff including professional and non- professional support staff; provides communication between the CSME, MPHD supervisors, nursing management, and staff; collaborates with other disciplines in patient care and health promotion; prepares and evaluates research findings and reports such as productivity reports, results matter (KRM), LOCAP, and annual reports.

Prepares and coordinates fitness for duty, functional capacity, and psychological examinations for the OHWP/CSME; collaborates with case managers, Metro HR/Safety, CSME/NP, physician offices and patients to facilitate examinations and subsequent return to work of the employee as soon as possible. Monitors work environment to ensure safety; works in collaboration with the MPHD QI coordinator to ensure compliance with standards; ensures compliance with HIPAA rules and regulations; coordinates QI activities to improve clinic flow. Participates in on-call coverage for the MPHD.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree; Master of Science in Nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization. Current Family Nurse Practitioner from a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization; Certificate of Fitness issued by the State of Tennessee. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the State of Tennessee. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. All public health nurses are required to complete a department approved Certificate in Public Health as a condition of continued employment.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Licensed or eligible for RN licensure by the State of Tennessee. Knowledge of childhood immunization schedule is required. Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
