Position Description: This position will ensure quality of clinical services, clinical staff workforce development, and will serve as part of the Regional Leadership in addressing public health activities. The incumbent will work with other Regional Health Officers, Regional Directors, Bureau Chiefs, and Central and Regional staff, as well as other organizations (e.g., schools) to provide public health direction. The incumbent will also work closely with the Public Health Division Medical Director, Chief Nurse, and Regional clinical staff to ensure quality in all aspects of care provided. This position will also provide direct clinical services (e.g., STD, Family Planning, immunization, TB) through Public Health clinics in the Region.

Qualifications: Medical Degree from an accredited medical sc school is required and six (6) years in the li licensed practice of medicine is required. Must possess, or obtain prior to start, a current license to practice as a Family & General Practitioner in New Mexico in accordance with the Medical Practice Act, Sections 61-6-1 through 61-6-35 NMSA 1978, an and 16.10.1 through 16.10.19 NMAC.

Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) and successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act (CLIA) are required within sixty (60) days of employment. Position will require Blood-borne pathogen training and successful completion of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course within thirty (30) days as a condition of continued employment.

The health care system is strengthened through Department activities including contracted Primary and Rural Health care services, school-based health centers, Emergency Medical Services, Scientific Laboratory services, Vital Records and Health Statistics.

Additional Information: Working Conditions: Services are provided in communities, clinics, auxiliary site settings and in the homes of consumers to a diverse racial and ethnic population, many who do not speak English. Work is often performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Potential exposure to communicable diseases. Travel to provide outreach and coverage to attend training sessions and meetings with the occasional overnight stay is required.
