Position Description: The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in behavioral aspects of physical activity.

Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to: a) establish a research program examining behavioral aspects of physical activity; b) engage graduate students in research efforts; c) teach in the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) Kinesiology program; d) advise students; and e) participate in service activities at the university, college, and department levels along with service to the profession.

The department and college are interested in faculty who are able to work collaboratively, and ideally align with others in the college focused on Population Health. and also utilize a variety of innovative pedagogical approaches, including online course delivery.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications - Earned doctorate in Kinesiology or closely related areas such as Psychology, Public Health, or Population Health, with degree conferred by September 1, 2018 ? Demonstrated ability to establish a research program related to the job description - Demonstrated ability to publish research = Demonstrated teaching experience in behavioral aspects of physical activity and/or wellness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (e.g., , behavioral aspects of physical activity, and psychological health and well-being) - Demonstrated proficiency in written communication - Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication - Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups

Preferred Qualifications - Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship - Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others in the area of Population Health - Demonstrated ability to seek and/or secure external funding
