Position Description: The Research Data Analyst will join a collaborative and exciting team of researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation studying infectious/inflammatory eye diseases in the U.S. and internationally. Researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation conduct clinical trials and large epidemiological studies on ocular inflammatory diseases which can cause blindness. The epidemiological studies involve large administrative databases such as OptumLabs (United Healthcare and Medicare) and multicenter clinical trials that involve domestic and international collaboration.

The individual will be asked to contribute to study design from a methodological standpoint, take responsibility for database creation, data management, programming, statistical analyses, and help to write grants and manuscripts.

This position requires an employee who can be relied upon for primary statistical analyses of a complex nature, play an integral role in designing new research studies, design and manage databases for data collection, provide training and support in statistical and data-related principles to residents, fellows and other employees. Job responsibilities include extracting data from large administrative databases through complex queries in SQL, developing and implementing statistical data analysis plans, and organizing and summarizing results using tables, graphs and narratives. Analyses will include univariate and multivariate data analyses such as linear and logistic regression with time-updated covariates, survival analyses and propensity scores/marginal structural models. The employee should show a strong interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the prevention, treatment and correlates of disease. The individual must be able to multi-task, problem-solve and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations with limited supervision. The employee must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials with collaborators.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with a coursework in quantitative analysis (i.e. biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, statistics or related field), or equivalent experience / training • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software packages (R, STATA or equivalent) • Demonstrated proficiency with SQL or other equivalent programming language • Knowledge of various study designs and implementation strategies • Knowledge of database creation and management • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced statistical methods • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or related field and two to three years of experience in practical data analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
