Position Description: This is your opportunity to get involved and directly help women navigating today's health insurance system. We're working with over 1,000 women who have serious health problems and need medically necessary surgeries. They need our help to try to get their insurance companies to cover these surgeries. The number of women contacting us continues to grow weekly.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team of staff who are emailing/calling the women with the appropriate responses to their questions and keeping track of their information in our databases. We will train you and be here to answer your questions. The ideal candidate will communicate well orally and in writing, would be very detail-oriented, and would enjoy talking to and helping women over the phone and by email.

Bachelor’s degree or higher required. The fellowship is at least 32 hours/week and pays $12.50/hour, increasing to $13.25/hour on July 1 and requires a commitment of at least 9 months. Promotion to a staff position is an option. Our office is at Farragut Square in Washington, DC; this is not a telecommuting position.

Organization Description: The National Center for Health Research analyzes and explains the latest research- based information that patients, policy makers, and the public can use to improve their own health and to develop better health programs and policies.

We conduct research that has the potential to improve health care. We translate research findings into information that is understandable and useful to the public. We work with the media to help get the word out. We educate policy makers and policy analysts through briefings, hearings, meetings, and written materials based on the information. We share our publications and information with other organizations, researchers, and advocates. We coordinate and strategize with them, working together to inform the public and be part of the public debate on policy issues. We use that information effectively to improve the health of adults and children.
