Position Description: The Research Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for clinical research recruitment activities for the Phillips research team. The work involves using an electronic query to identify eligible study subjects in the VA medical record database (CPRS) based on specific inclusion/ exclusion criteria for each study, verifying appropriateness for the study with the patient's primary physicians, sending study related informational letters to patients, calling potential study subjects to explain the study, and, if eligible/ interested, scheduling them for screening visits. In the telephone calls, the Recruitment Coordinator will interview the patients as needed to determine if the potential subject is appropriate for the enrolling studies, and coordinate scheduling and in- clinic screening of potential subjects. The Recruitment Coordinator will work closely with the VA Data Manager and study team to refine the CPRS data queries for recruitment, and maintain and updated database of potential research participants and referral sources. The position also involves fielding telephone inquiries and conducting telephone screenings of potential patients who are generally interested in clinical research. In addition, it will be important to work in close liaison with study coordinators and sponsors regarding enrollment status, efforts toward meeting recruitment targets, and analysis and feedback aimed to improve the efficiency of the process.

Job Functions Function 1 (80%): Proactively identify a sufficient pool of appropriate potential study participants from databases or recruitment initiatives to meet study- specific enrollment goals. Collaborates with research coordinators to set appropriate enrollment goals for each study. Function 2 (10%): Routinely and actively prepare for and participate in meetings to communicate recruitment targets, milestones, and progress with the study team. Coordinate with Clinical Studies Center (CSC) and study team for scheduling potential study participants. Function 3 (10%): Effectively manage study-specific recruitment strategies. Administer, oversee and report recruitment metrics; obtain and organize data regarding numbers of participants recruited for studies per each recruitment initiative. Update recruitment databases on a frequent and regular basis; ensure proper documentation and tracking of the full life cycle recruitment process. Evaluate recruitment program processes; develop recruitment program improvement strategies; implement program improvement through collaboration with research coordinators. Other Functions: Provide administrative office support such as, but not limited to, routinely checking study center voicemail, responding to / forwarding calls, ordering and filling supplies, etc.

Qualifications: Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in health- related field (or other field combined with clinical research experience).

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in clinical research or related field. Research recruitment experience is beneficial for a successful incumbent.

Specific Skills: Proven ability to meet target goals and outcomes. Demonstrated leadership and /or project management experience. Ability to understand and acquire knowledge of medical terminology, common medical conditions and medications relevant to the studies. High level of attention to detail and good organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level of use and comfort with MS Office products and other technological platforms. Friendly and people-oriented to ensure a positive experience with the veteran population. Ability to achieve/ exceed time-bound goals in both an independent and team environment.
