Position Description: The Research Associate III will work with Science staff in the accomplishment of varying research and evaluation activities. The following responsibilities are assigned under the Gilead COMPASS evaluation project:

•Serves as a Project Coordinator/Manager and has primary responsibility for carrying out the design and implementation of project activities, including: instrument development, literature reviews, needs assessments, content analysis, focus group and individual interviews, observations,site visits, and data collection/management/analysis. •Supervises project staff, includes maintaining positive, productive staff morale. •Helps design and refine research protocols (e.g., publication processes). •Tracks and assesses status of project tasks; prepares and/or monitors project budget. •Prepares project reports (e.g., progress, annual, and final reports). •Serves as the local on the ground liaison for the Gilead COMPASS project. •Supports other Southern-based research projects a as needed. •Assists with developing new project ideas and writing grant proposals. •Participates in writing research manuscripts for publication in professional journals. •Participates on ETR’s remote team and in a agency meetings.

Qualifications: •Master's degree or equivalent in Education, Program Evaluation, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, or related area; educational background in research and evaluation preferred. •At least 8 years post-Master’s experience including serving as a Project Coordinator/Manager on a research project for at l least 1 year. •A track record of strong leadership skills a as evidenced by the independent director of multiple research projects or at least on multiyear large project. •Experience working in a public health capacity with the US Southern geographic region highly desirable. •Extensive content/method expertise and ability to interface with partner organizations. •Ability to adapt to time line adjustments and reorganize work accordingly. •Responsible and able to follow through on all tasks with minimal supervision. •Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage several tasks simultaneously. •Willingness to travel. •Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytic, verbal, and writing skills. •Ability to manage and mentor junior staff successfully. •Experience in research and evaluation design, instrument development, quantitative a and qualitative data collection / management/analysis; interview skills are required. •Proficiency in Word, SPSS, and Excel for data analysis/software is desirable. •This is a remote telecommuting position; the geographic location of this position is to be based in one of the 16 states of the Southern Region of the United States. •Valid driver’s license; acceptable DMV record and proof of insurance required.
