Position Description: The Primary Prevention Coordinator will implement activities that serve to prevent childhood lead poisoning before it occurs. These activities will focus on enforcing laws and regulations that require property owners to test and certify that residential units do not have lead hazards and on implementing community-level prevention programs in areas with a high risk of lead-containing housing. The Primary Prevention Coordinator will work in conjunction with LHHP containing housing. The Primary Prevention Coordinator will work in conjunction with LHHP’s staff to implement all primary prevention services, including education programs and public information campaigns. This individual will be responsible for working with databases that track the prevention activities, creating regular reports and communicating progress to senior staff. The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in working with computerized databases, organized, dependable, detail-oriented, creative, and can communicate clearly and effectively with various levels of professional staff and laypeople.

Qualifications: • Completion of Bachelor’s or Master’s d degree, preferably in public health, an e environmental science, or other science f field • Skills with data management software ( (including MS Excel) • Three years of work experience requiring project implementation. (A Master’s degree may be substituted for two y years of work experience.) • Demonstrated interest in public h health or public service.

Organization Description: This position is under the Lead and Healthy Homes Program (LHHP) of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), Environmental Health Services Division (EHS). LHHP is responsible for addressing conditions that cause childhood lead poisoning and educating social service and childcare providers, clinicians, families and children about the importance of preventing lead exposure and performing lead screening. In addition, the Program oversees enforcement of lead laws and regulations in collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections and the Law Department
