Position Description: The Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i) is recruiting a research data analyst/programmer to participate in evaluations of health care delivery innovations and studies of acute care utilization, health system change, and chronic disease management. The analyst will use SQL and SAS/STATA/R to develop, merge, and manage substantial amounts of data, while working with a team of health services researchers, data analysts, and research assistants.

Qualifications: Job responsibilities include: • Extract data from large national datasets and administrative data sources (e.g., Corporate Data Warehouse, Medicare data files, and state claims databases) in support of research projects. Develop complex, sophisticated, accurate queries in SQL (Microsoft SQL Server Products, SAS PROC SQL). • Construct, merge, and manage datasets and databases relevant to research projects using statistical (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, or SPSS) and database (e.g., MS Access, T-SQL) computer programs. • Perform univariate and multivariate statistical analyses (e.g., multivariate regression analyses using ordinary least squares, logistic, and survival models). • Review analytical results for accuracy and completeness. Organize and summarize results using tabular or graphic representation as well as narrative description. • Evaluate data resulting from the application of mathematical statistical tools, models, methods, and techniques. • Contribute to development of programming and documentation templates for analyzing VA data. Employ these templates in daily work. • Contribute to publications and presentations (e.g., graphs, figures, tables) and grant proposals (e.g., preparatory-to-research analyses and descriptions of data analysis plans). • Undertake assigned tasks in support of research needs, which may include measure development, attending study meetings, assisting in administrative or data editing tasks, consulting with other teams, and serving as a consultant on programming topics. • Proofread and edit drafts of research materials (e.g., statistical reports, manuscripts) and make recommendations to senior staff regarding their clarity, organization, and layout.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree in statistics or a health field (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health, Education, or related field with coursework in data management and statistics). • Proficiency in SQL and SAS or other statistical software (e.g., STATA, R), Windows/OS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Demonstrated experience with data management, including creating and merging data from large datasets using software such as SQL, and developing and executing data analysis plans.

REQUIRED: • Bachelor's degree and a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): • Ability to work in a team and independently and across several projects. • Relevant subject matter knowledge. • Substantial experience with analytical programs. • Excellent writing and analytical skills. • Ability to prioritize workload.
