Position Description: This position focuses on supporting a cohort of ten to twenty undergraduate student leaders (Engaged Ambassadors) who in turn engage hundreds of students through all aspects of leadership programing toward the Certificate in Engaged Leadership. The program manager will use a peer-based, “train-the-trainer” approach so that ambassadors have a key role in advancing student preparation for engagement with communities and critical reflection and mentorship. Engaged Ambassadors support high quality community engaged learning experiences by: mentoring students in pursuit of the certificate; facilitating a seven-week capstone to the certificate; distributing funding to students; marketing and outreach; generally supporting students’ in documenting and reflecting on their experiential and community engaged learning, including use of an electronic portfolio. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills, has experience and high-proficiency in facilitating democratic learning environments and developing and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, is an innovative and creative problem solver, and possesses strong experience in assessment. Additionally, this position requires a strong planning background, and familiarity with community development and its application in higher education. The program manager will: Model the engaged leadership ethos among the ambassador cohort by leading exemplar program management, critical reflection, and mentorship Prepare ambassadors to facilitate presentations and workshops for campus stakeholders Work closely with the director of student leadership and the OEI team to conduct strategic planning, assess program outcomes, and provide input on program design. Administer the Community Engaged Student Travel Grant (CESTG) to 125+ students Plan, manage and execute the annual Community Engagement Showcase, Call 2 Action, and Community-Student Networking events Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners. Support and collaborate with community engagement colleagues in the Engaged Cornell Hub, Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives, and Office of the Dean of Students Diversity and Inclusion.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two to three years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in partnership and program development, and management. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams to accomplish their goals. Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills. Strong interpersonal and oral, written and electronic media communication skills. Demonstrated capability to work with teams including students, faculty, academic and community partners. Strong computer skills, including desktop applications. Ability to work independently and take initiative. 2-3 years minimum of experience in program development and management; experience with student leadership development highly preferred Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner with a variety of constituents across the university. Strong leadership skills; Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams to accomplish their goals Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) Capacity to inspire a diverse range of stakeholders to advance Engaged Learning + Research’s mission Strong interest in transformative education and social justice Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree Database management Experience leading with a public purpose Capacity to inspire a diverse range of stakeholders to advance Engaged Cornell’s ethos
