Position Description: Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have ongoing partnership in childhood obesity prevention research. Recently, NIH awarded a Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant to ACRI to establish the Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention (CCOP). COBREs focus on developing research infrastructure tied to a specific thematic focus and provides junior investigators with formal mentoring and research project funding to help them compete successfully for independent external research grant support. The CCOP serves as the anchor for a comprehensive pediatric obesity program on the ACRI campus, encompassing a multi-disciplinary, translational team of investigators focused on elucidating the origins, development, and treatment of childhood obesity. To support this work, the CCOP has established a Biostatistics and Informatics Core to provide research design, analytical services, and junior investigator research career mentoring.

The Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention (CCOP) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor Biostatistician (tenure track eligible) to join the CCOP leadership team with an academic appointment in the Department of Pediatrics (secondary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics). As the Biostatistics and Informatics Core director, the candidate will work directly with the CCOP director and the other core directors to define the direction of the center, and to partner in its ongoing development. The candidate will work directly with the funded and pipeline junior faculty investigators supported by the center, as well as direct the work of 2 disciplinary, translational team of in investigators focused on elucidating the or origins, development, and treatment of ch childhood obesity. To support this work, the CC CCOP has established a Biostatistics and In Informatics Core to provide research design, an analytical services, and junior investigator re research career mentoring.

As the Biostatistics and Informatics Core director, the candidate will work directly with the CCOP director and the other core directors to define the direction of the center, and to partner in its ongoing development. The candidate will work directly with the funded and pipeline junior faculty investigators supported by the center, as well as direct the work of 2-3 masters level statisticians and database s staff. Occasional state and national travel i is required.

Qualifications: The candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permane permanent resident to apply. Successful candida candidates must have: 1) Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics or equ or equivalent degree; 2) Expertise and experience in R, SAS and o and other programming; 3) Advanced analytical skills and know knowledge, including longitudinal data anal analysis, clinical trials, and multivariate data data analysis; 4) Interest in childhood obesity pre prevention and intervention health research; 5) Strong oral and written co communication skills; and 6) Demonstrated grant writing e experience.
