Position Description: Under minimal supervision, conducts daily investigations and surveillance of foodborne, waterborne, zoonotic, vaccine preventable and respiratory communicable diseases. Works collaboratively on a team to investigate communicable disease cases, assess rabies exposures, implement infection control measures, and conduct outbreak investigations. The position performs epidemiologic analyses regarding communicable disease incidence and trends, and other special studies or analytic projects. The position provides technical support and expertise to TCHD staff, local health care providers, and the public regarding appropriate investigation and control methods for communicable diseases. Conducts presentations on TCHD’s current disease intervention activities and outbreak investigations and is responsible to respond, as required, to support public health emergencies, incidents and events.

Qualifications: Requirements you will need:

•Knowledge of the principles of communicable disease epidemiology, investigative techniques, and epidemiologic methods and statistical analyses.

•Ability to effectively analyze and interpret surveillance, epidemiologic studies and outbreak data using statistical software.

•The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with the public and medical providers under stressful circumstances.

•Master’s Degree in public health or a Master’s of Science Degree with a focus on epidemiology or analysis and assessment; or Bachelor’s Degree or other non- epidemiology professional degree without formal academic epidemiology training and ? 2 years of experience performing epidemiology work.

•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Tri-County Health Department employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

•Possession of a Valid Driver’s License
