Position Description: The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy at Duke University has an opening for a Research Associate. The work site for this position will be the Duke- Margolis offices in Washington, DC.

This specific research associate position will support Center projects with research, writing, and analysis with a focus on medical product value-based payment reform, medical product development and innovation, medical device and pharmaceutical policy, regulatory science, and the intersection of scientific and regulatory advancement with broader US health policy reforms.

Primary responsibilities include conducting background research; drafting summary documents, blog posts, and policy briefs; and managing Center events and convening. This will include support for project activities through coordination, logistics management, and some administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Education/Experience Requirements: • Educational attainment and work experience requirements to be met by one of the following: - Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant work experience. OR - Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., health policy, public policy, public administration, public health, health economics) and at least 4 years of relevant work experience. OR - Advanced professional degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, JD) and at least 2 years of relevant experience. • Training or experience in the fields of health policy, public policy, public health, health economics, data science, or patient safety is preferred. • Strong research and writing experience is required.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements: • Excellent organizational and communication skills are required. • Interest in biomedical science and health policy is required. • Knowledge/experience in value-based payment reform for medical products is required, as is familiarity with current trends and regulations in payment and delivery system reform. • Policy research skills, including the ability to synthesize content from a broad range of sources, are required. Data analysis capabilities are preferred. • Ability to interact with high level individuals and organizations is required. • Strong written communication skills and the ability to transform complicated information into easy to understand materials is required. • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment with varied responsibilities. • Ability to coordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously and manage a project team effectively. • Ability to complete tasks with limited oversight and supervision.
