Position Description: This is an independent professional position responsible for providing support for the STD Program. Primary responsibilities involve pr providing training for new employees, identifying training needs for existing staff, providing mandatory staff trainings and coordinating the STD Program Quality Improvement/As Improvement/Assurance Plan. Work is performed under the supervision of Improvement/As Improvement/Assurance Plan. Work is performed under the supervision of the STD Program Manager and requires a high degree of of professional judgment and independence.

This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as Florida Department of Health in Broward County Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. This position has been delegated custodial authority for their Program/Unit's information set(s) and/or secured areas(s). Responsible for all training and quality management activities including, but not limited to, developing training plans, performance plans, , planning, directing and critiquing Disease Intervention Specialists pre an post interviews and field investigations. Directs the work of both DIS and their Supervisors to ensure the best use of use of time and resources. Develops training objectives and experience for all newly hired employees. Ensures new DIS are ready to function on the job prior to release from training; documents all aspects of training. Training may be individual or group format. Develops expected competencies, training material, work samples and training exercises as needed. Annually assesses the proficiency, competencies' and skill level of all STD Program Staff. Completes appropriate assessment forms, retrains as needed, and discusses findings with Field Supervisors and and Program Manager. Coordinates the STD Program performance improvement initiatives and development, well as, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program's quality improvement/assurance plan. Works with the STD Supervisors to assist in achieving progress towards established objectives based on identified key indicators. Provides technical assistance in achieving established goals, objectives and outcomes. Monitors the implementation of the local agency monitoring report and works with administration to prepare responses when corrective action plans are needed. Monitors implementation of corrective actions plans in collaboration with STD Supervisors and Program Manager to ensure progress to ideal levels and objectives are met by the required or agreed upon time. Ensures all STD staff complete all mandatory trainings for DOH-Broward and the Florida STD Bureau. Bureau. Deve Bureau. Bureau. Develops ongoing comprehensive training programs programs for all staff. Develops training modules and assessment tools so as to refresh skills and assess competency of staff. Researches, reviews materials and recommends for purchase all communicable disease resources inclusive of audio visual materials, books, reference materials, DVDs etc. Coordinates purchase of materials, determines which items are to be stocked and ensures materials are distributed to the units as needed. Educates staff on use. Attends staff meetings, conferences, workshops related to area of work. Completes leave, attendance, EARs, travel and other reports as required and according to established procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS •Valid FL driver's license free of major infractions and access to a reliable automobile to be utilized for work purposes. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS •Master's degree in Public Health. •At least three years' experience as a Disease Intervention Specialist. •At least three years' experience working in a an STD Program. •At least three years' experience doing venipuncture. •At least three years experience performing communicable disease outreach. •At least two years experience teaching, coaching or mentoring.
