IHRC, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients.  The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of IHRC, Inc., and will be assigned to the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, to provide support for the DHDSP.


The Public Health Policy Analyst will provide services to satisfy the overall epidemiologic and public health operational objectives for the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP).


  • Formulate and apply policy tracking and reporting systems and tools, to monitor trends and analyze data. This includes the review of rules and regulations relevant to division programmatic activities and providing guidance in the form of written summaries. This guidance may include a review of eligibility, matching, and scope of the program.
  • Perform policy analysis and interpretation of requests from Congressional staff, Health and Human Services (HHS), CDC, other Federal Agencies, etc. (with the exception of federal policy surrounding funding or appropriations) developing policy briefings, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Review proposed and implemented rules and regulations and identify potential opportunities for the advancement of Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention activities summarizing the information into a quarterly report. The report should include a summary of the impact of the legislation and recommendations for advancing Division priority activities.
  • Prepare policy reports and summaries of policy, and partnership activities for Division leadership. Use knowledge gained from legal analysis of rules and regulations relevant to the Division's activities to prepare them.
  • Provide support for monthly calls and activities with partners performing the associated tasks for the meetings including: developing agendas, sending invitations to participants, obtaining the meeting room, identifying conference call numbers, drafting and disseminating meeting minutes, and drafting supporting documents that could include task lists, summary documents, white papers, etc.
  • Travel with CDC staff to provide technical support/assistance to CDC and partner organizations as required.



Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Public Health required.
  • Juris Doctorate from a program accredited by the American Bar Association is desired, but not required.


  • Experience working in policy and partnership at/with CDC, federal, or related public health entities.
  • Experience with review, interpretation, and analysis of significant documents, policy statements, and legislation.
  • Experience working as part of team. Project coordination skills required.
  • Experience reviewing public health policy material for relevance and implications for specific issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to deliver on allocated tasks and respond in a timely manner to deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Writing and editing experience. Must be adept at higher-level editorial tasks.

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English   


  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
