Position Description: Eagle Medical Services seeks to provide the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the services an Researcher/Epidemiologist to support the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) project located in the CDC’s Immunization Safety Office (ISO). The VSD is a collaborative project between CDC’s Immunization Safety Office and eight integrated health care plans in the United States. VSD’s mission is: to conduct research on important vaccine safety questions in large populations, to conduct vaccine safety studies that come from questions or concerns in the medical literature or from other vaccine safety systems, like the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), to monitor possible adverse events when new vaccines are licensed or when there are new vaccine recommendations, and to provide information to committees who make recommendations for the nation.

Epidemiology activities will include a variety of tasks related to research and surveillance:

-Develop epidemiologic research protocols for vaccine safety studies -Conduct epidemiologic investigations in the VSD -Participate in surveillance activities in the VSD -Develop and disseminate data and epidemiologic findings through drafting manuscripts for publication and making presentations at scientific meetings -Provide epidemiologic consultation on scientific and technical issues -Participate in program projects and activities related to technical, scientific and programmatic expertise -Assist with ISO-related activities that pertain to vaccine safety

Qualifications: Desired skills include: • Minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably in public health or a related field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics), OR at least 2 years of equivalent work experience in a public health or clinical research environment is required • Experience conducting vaccine safety research with large linked databases • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint • Proficiency in SAS and/or other statistical software packages • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet all needs in a timely manner • Ability to learn new material and be flexible with completing demands and ad-hoc requests • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment during a public heath response or other high profile public health issues • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
