Position Description: Temple University’s College of Public Health is leading a new movement to reimagine the future of public health. Through transdisciplinary research and interprofessional education, our students, staff and faculty embrace public health as a catalyst for individual and community change in pursuit of the common good.

The Department of Nursing invites applications for tenured/tenure track positions at the academic rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. We seek individuals who share our vision to be a leading force in community- engaged, collaborative efforts to achieve health equity and a quality life for all. At Temple University Nursing, we aspire to provide excellence in academic programming that is responsive to the health needs of individuals and populations, within the context of community and are committed to the highest level of caregiving that is prevention-oriented, evidence-based and provided in collaboration with the community and other professions and disciplines.

Qualified applicants will hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field and be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania. Candidates of particular interest will have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and across disciplines to understand and intervene in factors that shape the health of individuals, families and populations. Early career candidates are individuals with postdoctoral training or academic experience, and evidence of strong potential to obtain external funding. Midcareer or senior applicants will have an active, externally funded research portfolio and an established publication record appropriate to warrant a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Opportunity for clinical practice is available for advanced practice nurses and will be individually negotiated as a part of work effort. Compensation, benefits and start-up are competitive. We welcome cluster hires of senior and early career researchers along with research staff.

The Department of Nursing enrolls nearly 500 students and offers two accredited programs. Our 8-semester, 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is recognized for its high NCLEX pass rate, clinical affiliations with some of the best health care facilities in the Philadelphia area and an innovative 5- semester ‘community home’ rotation with a population-based, service-learning focus. Our Doctor of Nursing Practice program includes a post baccalaureate option and two specialty concentrations: Adult- Gerontology Primary Care and Family- Individual across the Lifespan. A post master’s option prepares graduates for practice leadership roles in a variety of health care settings. Expansion of graduate program offerings is anticipated and will include additional DNP specialties and a master’s direct entry program for non-nursing college graduates. In 2019, the Department will open in collaboration with the Philadelphia Housing Authority a nurse-managed community health center serving the Sharswood neighborhood of North Philadelphia.
