Position Description: This position is a Pay Band 85 Why does the job exist? This position contributes to the agency by pro providing statewide public health vet veterinarian services, including supervision of of the Zoonotic Disease Tea,. interaction wit with sister agencies at the state level and wit with key partners at the national level. Thi This position is pivotal to the concept of ¿On ¿One Health¿ that recognizes that the health of of humans is connected to the health of ani animals and the environment. How does it get done? - Coordinate veterinary public health activities in New Mexico to increase public safety with regard to zoonotic diseases including: working with municipal and county-level animal control officers and Veterinarians on problems related to rabies control; standardizing rabies control procedures statewide, including with healthcare providers; working with the NM Veterinary Association and private Veterinarians statewide on issues dealing with zoonotic diseases.

Ideal Candidate Will have: Coordinating among multiple agencies at the lo local, state or federal levels. Experience in public health related to the i investigation of zoonotic diseases.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualification Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine (DVM) and five (5) years experience in veterinary medicine with knowledge of livestock diseases, zoonotic diseases, and other foreign animal diseases, public health and epidemiology, and knowledge of federal and state livestock law. Must be licensed in accordance with Veterinary Medicine, 61-14-1 through 61-14-20 NMSA 1978 and 16.25.1 t through 16.25.11 NMAC, as applicable.
