Position Description: The Opportunity This position supports the Department of Health's mission to protect and improve the health and safety of all people in Washington State by collecting and disseminating information on the circumstances of violent deaths through the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). NVDRS is a Center's for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) violent death surveillance system. This is a high visibility federal grant program involving multiple stakeholder groups. In this position, you will serve as a unit supervisor, program manager, and policy analyst. This position is responsible for developing and sustaining WA-VDRS, the Washington component of the NVDRS. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of 4-6 people in consulting, advising, and building relationships with stakeholders to develop and implement WA-VDRS. These stakeholders include medical examiners and coroners, sheriff and police chiefs, violence prevention educators, other state agencies, and local public health jurisdictions. You will also work in coordination with the WA-VDRS principal investigator and epidemiologist in all activities, including developing findings, articulating and promoting prevention and policy recommendations, and disseminating evolving data to stakeholders and the public. This project position is currently funded through August 31, 2019, but may be extended if funding is available.

What will you be doing? – Duties include:

- Supervise and coordinate WA-VDRS staff including goal setting and performance reviews, and recruitment activities. - Develop plans in collaboration with partners to implement WA-VDRS across all counties in Washington. - Develop a path for implementation efforts and ensure staff success in executing duties. Oversee the WA-VDRS data abstraction and collection activities. - Build relationships under a memorandum of understanding with WA-VDRS data suppliers. - Manage, monitor and evaluate the WA-VDRS federal grant. Submit an annual federal application for continuing project funding.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications Option 1: An associate's degree; and four (4) or more years' experience of program supervision and management at a government agency or in a health services related field, law enforcement or data systems development


Option 2: A bachelor's degree; and one (3) or more years' experience at a government agency or in a health services related field, law enforcement or systems development


Two (2) or more years' experience managing or coordinating statewide projects including working with multiple stakeholders to develop project plans and evidence-based prevention programs.
