Position Description: The supervising epidemiologist oversees masters and doctorate epidemiologists for surveillance and investigations of diseases, injuries and other health issues. S/he/they works closely with outstanding public health informatics innovators, researchers, policymakers and diverse community partners. This position plays a leading role in community health assessment and improvement.

The Epidemiology team uses standard public health data as well as non-traditional information (e.g., electronic health records, EMS, claims/administrative, human services, and community-participatory input) to assess population needs and assets, support preventive care, facilitate access, and track and evaluate the performance of health programs and policies in both clinical and community settings.

The outstanding candidate will be comfortable with designing and executing epidemiologic studies and has the drive to push projects from conception and funding through evaluation and dissemination. Familiarity with at least three of the following is a plus: communicable disease, chronic disease, injury, behavioral health, health services, or emergency preparedness and response. Experience with electronic health record data, health information exchange and governance, health departments or integrated health systems are helpful.

Qualifications: Education : Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in epidemiology, community/public health, environmental health, nursing, or related field. PhD preferred. Experience: Typically (4) four years of professional experience in the investigation and/or prevention of communicable or non- communicable diseases, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent proficiency in SAS, R, SQL, and/or GIS applications highly desirable. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will be capable of creative problem solving and have demonstrated ability as a leader and self-starter. This person will be highly capable in prioritizing, conducting multiple activities simultaneously, and organizing a group of supervisees. The typical candidate will have demonstrated skill as an experienced analyst, selecting analytic approaches, with a working knowledge of data curation, database management and statistical methods. Certificate/License/Registration: N/A All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
