Position Description: The Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2019. Scholars with an established research portfolio investigating applications of digital health technology in behavioral interventions (e.g., eHealth, mHealth, social media, wearables) to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce risk of disease, as well as those who consider the policy or economic implications of such interventions, are encouraged to apply. Current areas of research emphasis within the Technology Center to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (TecHealth Center) include obesity prevention and treatment, and physical activity promotion; however, there is interest in expanding the scope of activities to include technology-assisted interventions for other lifestyle behaviors. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position and evidence of scholarly research, the ability to obtain competitive funding to support a research program and to serve as an effective instructor and mentor. Although not required, completion of a postdoctoral research fellowship is strongly recommended. The successful candidate will have an academic appointment in the department within the Arnold School most closely affiliated with training and expertise. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to mentor students in that department, as well as within the TecHealth Center.

The Arnold School is composed of six departments (Communication Sciences and Disorders; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Environmental Health Sciences; Exercise Science; Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior; and Health Services Policy and Management) and a number of Institutes and Centers focused on specific areas of research and social impact, including the Prevention Research Center, the Cancer Prevention and Control Program, the Center for Research in Nutrition and Health Disparities and the South Carolina Rural Health Research Center. The TecHealth Center is a South Carolina SmartState Center of Economic Excellence.
