Position Description: This is a contract position with the CDC's Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP). Responsibilities include: • Provide analytic assistance and technical expertise in conducting studies relating to healthcare associated infections. and antibiotic stewardship projects. This includes working with various administrative data sources (e.g., CMS data, MarketScan or other proprietary data, State inpatient data files, facility data, etc.) to examine questions related to healthcare associated infections and antibiotic stewardship • Streamline analytic activities of projects involving requests from multiple teams • Provide specialized knowledge for use in analyses needed to populate a social network analysis tool or conduct other modelling activities • Work in conjunction with a current investigator to create code or analyses to be executed or included in mathematical models • Create and submit well-formatted and documented SAS code to conduct quality control and manipulation of data bases including merging, managing, and updating data; generating standard reports; performing data quality reviews; data editing/cleaning; and resolving data quality problems • Create and submit SAS or R code to conduct statistical and epidemiological analyses • Provide technical ability aiding with the programming and data management aspects in publishing scientific papers • Provide expertise to aid with new acquisitions and renewals of various administrative data sources by developing data request packages and scientific research approvals (e.g., through institutional review boards) • Prepare tables and charts for presentations and publications as well as develop data dictionaries and data management documents for studies working in conjunction with principal investigators • Work with diverse groups of epidemiologists, statisticians, programmers, medical officers, and project managers

Qualifications: • US Citizenship is mandatory • Master of Public Health in Biostatistics or Epidemiology, plus 4 years of experience publishing in peer-reviewed publications • Proficiency in SAS and SQL are a must Mandatory Statistical Skills: Generalized Linear Models (Linear, Logistic, Poisson, Quantile, GEE, Mixed models); Bayesian (MCMC, Regression, Hierarchical Model); Survival Analysis (Hypothesis testing, Kaplan Meier, Cox Model, Censoring) • Experience with SUDAAN, Strata, R, and ArcGIS preferred • Strong ability to pull data together, analyze and present it • Ability to import/export SAS data to/from databases; ability to manage and manipulate large data sets • Knowledge of basic survey design, survey data processing, data editing and review, and data dissemination • Familiarity with security issues facing a federal statistical agency collecting confidential data • Competency in statistical concepts and algorithms, process modeling, pattern recognition, etc. • Solid written and oral communication skills to assist in the development and presentation of data to internal and external stakeholders • Proven analytical and quantitative skills with experience/proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint • Experience with databases; data retrieval, manipulation, and profiling • Experience developing and maintaining methods to gather data • Experience using database query tools to develop and execute queries • Experience working with federal agencies a plus
