Position Description: We are seeking an Epidemiologist II to serve as Research Manager for the Community Health Innovation(CHI) strategy team and our Community Health Worker (CHW) Center for Research, Outcomes and Workforce Development (CROWD). SUHI introduced the CHW model in 2000 and continues to test innovative ways to employ this model to improve management of asthma, diabetes, complex medical conditions and HIV, as well as proactively to improve breast health, screen and educate residents about lead prevention and healthy homes. Under direction from SUHI’s Senior Research Director and Director of CHI, the Research Manager/Epidemiologist II oversees intervention research, including design, analyses, reporting and dissemination. The Research Director directly supervises a team comprised of an Epidemiologist I, Research Assistants and Research Specialists. The Epidemiologist II/Research Manager position entails these responsibilities: • Support, facilitate, and coordinate daily intervention research activities; • Develop and maintain study protocols and standard operating procedures; • Organize, manage and analyze data gathered through our intervention trials; and • Contribute to grant writing and research dissemination activities (i.e., publications, presentations).

Qualifications: The required qualifications and skills include:

1. Educational and workforce preparation, specifically: - An MPH or MS with concentration in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field; - Three plus years of public health, project management, and other work experience that required proficiency in quantitative methods, research writing and dissemination; and - Demonstrated project management experience, including timeline, budget, and staff oversight. 2. Quantitative skills in epidemiology and statistics, including: - Wide knowledge, and proficiency in application, of epidemiologic and statistical methods to assess health-related data; - Knowledge of intervention research methods and program evaluation; - Command of epidemiologic concepts needed to guide analyses and assist with developing studies; - Proficient use of statistical software such as Stata, SAS, and/or R; and - Proficiency in creating and maintaining epidemiologic database systems. 3. Scientific writing and research presentation, suitable to professional and community audiences - Writing articles and reports for professional journals; - Identifying funding opportunities and assist with grant writing; - Organizing and presenting study findings and epidemiologic information; and - Excellent oral and written communication skills, translatable to multiple audiences and settings.
