Position Description: This Epidemiologist 2 will serve as the HIV and STD Surveillance and Informatics Coordinator.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with public health professionals at the state and local offices, the information technology team, and external partners

• Support onboarding of laboratory partners for electronic laboratory reporting through the import and validation of messages in HIV and STD surveillance systems

• Support NEDSS Base System (NBS) activities for STD surveillance and case management

• Utilize SAS, SQL Server Management Studio, and Tableau to visualize HIV and STD surveillance data

• Provide support for the STD surveillance system database, including reporting to CDC.

• Problem-solve around public health reporting issues, serving as a liaison between reporters and the HIV/ STD program

Qualifications: • Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or PhD in epidemiology

• 4+ years of experience in public health, with at least 2 years in applied epidemiology or public health surveillance

• Proficiency in SAS

• Knowledge and experience working with relational databases

• Excellent communication and project management skills

Organization Description: The Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness Division (CEDEP) with in the Tennessee Department of Health includes programs in Immunizations, TB, HIV/STD/Hepatitis, Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance, Environmental Health, Foodborne and Vectorborne Diseases, Outbreak Investigations, and Emergency Preparedness.
