Managing Director, Clinical Trials Oakland, California

In this role, you will lead highly visible, complex, and politically risky turnaround/improvement projects that are of strategic importance to the company. You will oversee the development and execution of the agreed upon action plans and deliverables. In addition, you will oversee, design, support, and lead any necessary communication and governance/oversight mechanisms required to ensure effective delivery of promised deliverables.

Qualifications: Qualifications Include:
  • At least ten years of experience in one of the technical areas required and project management
  • A master’s degree in business administration, economics, health care administration, public health, health policy and management, a related discipline, or six years of experience in a directly related field with a high school diploma or GED
  • The demonstrated ability to determine key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives
  • Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting – especially on highly visible, politically sensitive issues
  • Excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, project management, change management, and group process
  • The ability to exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and be results oriented
  • The ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration
  • Proficient in team building, conflict resolution, group interaction, project management, budget management, and the ability to be cost effective
  • An understanding of and experience in business process improvement and the tools and data requirements for supporting an effective business process improvement practice
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis
  • Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting
  • Excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, project management, change management, and group process
  • Proven ability to effectively manage in ambiguous situation with minimal direction
  • The ability to demonstrate an understanding of health policy trends and any applicable regulations related to the responsible technical area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical trials experience/knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in outpatient and/or inpatient clinical care, clinical trial financial and contract management, clinical trial regulatory, and data submission requirements
  • Demonstrated senior level experience overseeing financial planning, management, reporting, and forecasting
  • Experience in developing and managing clinical research grant funding, contracting, and administration processes
  • The ability to develop, articulate, and execute a vision and strategy for clinical trials in response to senior executive priorities, changing market conditions, government regulations, and other factors impacting clinical research
  • Strong comprehension of general business processes and systems, including experience working with electronic clinical trial systems
  • At least five years of experience managing a diverse clinical research program or comparable clinical program within a complex environment
