Position Description: The CDC Foundation helps the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) save and improve lives by unleashing the power of collaboration between CDC, philanthropies, corporations, organizations and individuals to protect the health, safety and security of America and the world. The CDC Foundation is the sole entity authorized by Congress to mobilize philanthropic partners and private-sector resources to support CDC’s critical health protection mission. Since 1995, the CDC Foundation has launched approximately 1,000 programs and raised over $740 million. The CDC Foundation managed over 300 CDC-led programs in the United States and in more than 130 countries last year.


The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a full time Analyst to support the CDC. This position will explore systematic options for linking nonfatal and fatal overdose data.


Position 1:

Specialize in data source linkages and options. Explore and document options for systematically linking multiple sources of overdose-related data Facilitate discussion and decision making about data linkage options May implement data linkages and perform case validation. Other duties as assigned. Position 2:

Work with hospital partners and IT partners to ensure hospital reporting via Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) feeds Validate data from multiple sources, including BioSense Create and maintain a network of hospital contacts May preform case validation. Facilitate expanded data collection by expanding fields reported via ADT feeds Other duties as assigned. Position 3:

Conduct routine and detailed data analyses for dissemination Train EMS providers to improve quality of EMS data. Facilitate use of Bio-spatial dashboard May preform case validation. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor degree in public health or related field required. Must have knowledge of data systems and technology for linking data sets, and be able to coordinate with IT vendors. Must have strong coordination and data validation skills. Must have own computer with SAS or comparable statistical software. Knowledge of data management and analysis, research methods, and presentation of public health/epidemiologic data. Proficient use of graphics and statistical analysis data management software such as SAS, Access, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to apply appropriate statistical techniques for analysis and report preparation; comprehend scientific material; and research scientific literature and other resources. Highly detail oriented, works well within a diverse team, demonstrates a high degree of initiative and flexibility, able to communicate effectively in a positive and professional manner, able to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines, and possesses analytical skills. Strong technical skills including word processing, spreadsheet development and management, and database management, with a particular emphasis on proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular experience reviewing and editing documents. Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; collegial; energetic; and able to develop productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.
