Position Description: Job Summary/Basic Function: The Division of Health Systems Management and Policy at The University of Memphis School of Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin August 2019. This 9-month faculty appointment offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, with opportunities for salary enhancement through research incentives and summer salary support. Responsibilities will include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, and service.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct research in a collaborative atmosphere, seek extramural grant support, teach and mentor health administration and public health students, and contribute to the further development of the School of Public Health.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: We seek applications from innovative, motivated, and engaged individuals who are committed to growing our research and scholarship. Candidates must hold a relevant doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH) in health services research, health administration, or closely related discipline and meet academic requirements for consideration as an Assistant or Associate Professor. We will consider candidates who expect to receive their doctoral degree (ABD) by August 2019 and who otherwise meet the position qualifications. We are particularly interested in applicants who have expertise in teaching healthcare finance or healthcare economics, but applicants with other areas of expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.

Organization Description: About the School of Public Health (http://www.memphis.edu/sph/): The Division of Health Systems Management and Policy (HSMP) is home to an award- winning, nationally ranked, CAHME-accredited MHA program that is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018. The Division also houses a PhD program and MPH concentration in Health Systems and Policy, as well as a graduate certificate in Health Systems Leadership. A fully online Executive MHA is expected to begin in Fall 2019.

In addition to the HSMP programs, the CEPH- accredited School of Public Health offers areas of study in epidemiology (MPH and PHD), social and behavioral sciences (MPH and PHD), biostatistics (MS), and urban health (MPH). Faculty expertise is diverse and the School has strong collaborations with local, national, and international partners that enrich teaching, support research projects, and offer opportunities for graduate placements and research experience.

The School’s mission involves the translation of knowledge and research into community practice to tackle pressing societal needs related to social and environmental determinants of health and disease, health disparities, and systems that influence healthy living for individuals, families, and communities. The School emphasizes both discovery and application, with the goal of moving "knowledge into action" locally, nationally, and globally.
