Position Description: - Assist Local Health Department (LHD) and other clinical staff providing hepatitis testing in the coordination of linkage-to- care services for patients testing positive for viral hepatitis. Linkage-to- care services may include linking a client to a primary or specialist provider or linking a client to treatment centers for substance use disorders. - Day travel as needed for patient follow- up, may vary by district. - Coordinate with the respective District and Regional Epidemiologists to perform case investigations for clients who test positive for viral hepatitis. Investigations include risk ascertainment, case classification, and educational counseling for patients. - Contact medical providers, laboratories, and other service providers to obtain information about clients or to refer clients for examination and/or treatment. Complete and submit morbidity reports and records for investigations within established timeframes, as needed. - Educate clients regarding signs/symptoms, modes of transmission and risk reduction methods; utilize motivational interview skills to elicit information regarding others at risk/in need of testing. - Work with public health programs including community based organizations (CBO), correctional health programs, substance abuse treatment centers, and comprehensive harm reduction (CHR) sites - Build relationships with local academic institutions to establish a means of continuity of programmatic operations - Ability to listen, understand, and empathize in a culturally sensitive manner, and use motivational skills to build rapport with clients and engagement in disease intervention services. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems; perform basic mathematical calculations; conduct accurate data entry; maintain confidentiality; comply with program and data security policies and procedures; and work independently during various hours and settings (e.g., field, non-clinical and clinical, office). Experience working under pressure (e.g., meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities).

Qualifications: Minimum: Knowledge of public health practices; epidemiology and disease intervention methodologies (particularly those related to hepatitis and/or HIV/STD). Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to disease reporting and control. Strong oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal; partnership development and rapport building; program implementation and management; and computer (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills. Ability to interpret viral hepatitis epidemiologic data; conduct training; prepare reports; write grant narratives; make sound decisions; collaborate with external partners to tailor technical assistance and training for quality improvement. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A valid Virginia driver’s license required.

Organization Description: 40 hours per week located in the Prince William Health District. This is a contractual position hired through either CorTech or Premier staffing agency. There are health benefits available through the contractual agency. This is a grant-funded position with funding available through August 2019, additional funding is dependent on available grant funds. This position is open until filled. Payment is commensurate with experience, expected range ($22 - $27/hour).
