Position Description: An ORISE fellowship opportunity is available in in the Capacity Building Branch (CBB), Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) within the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) at the Centers for Disease Control an and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA.

CBB's mission is to improve the performance of the HIV prevention workforce by increasing the knowledge, skills, technology, and infrastructure to implement and sustain science-based, culturally appropriate HIV prevention interventions and strategies. As such, the Branch oversees a network of capacity-building assistance (CBA) providers who provide training and technical assistance to health departments, community-based organizations, and heal healthcare organizations implementing HIV prevention programming.

In an ongoing effort to monitor, evaluate, and improve services provided by the CBA provider network, CBB collects and analyzes program data. The ORISE Fellow may have the opportunity to be involved in supporting the management and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, interpreting this data, and preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts which will occur under the direction of an assigned CDC Advisor/Mentor.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend depending on educational level and experience. The participant must show proof of health insurance. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program a administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

Qualifications: A doctoral degree received within the last five years in evaluation, social sciences, public health, or another STEM discipline.

Significant coursework in program evaluation and measurement within the last five years.

Knowledge of how to manage and analyze large da datasets using SAS, SPSS, or like software.
