Position Description: |
The Henry M. Jackson foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is seeking a biostatistician for the Division of Military Epidemiology and Population Sciences of the John P. Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP), Uniformed Services University and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MCCRP.
There are unique and invaluable research resources in the Department of Defense (DoD) health care system. These include the military health databases such as the cancer registry data and the clinical care data. The clinical care data cover millions of medical care beneficiaries. Particularly, the DoD-wide cancer registry data have been linked to the clinical data. There are strong research programs in prostate, breast, and gynecologic cancers in MCCRP.
The incumbent will be located at the MCC Rockville office. He/she will process and manipulate research data; provide expertise in SAS programming and other data/statistical programming to support data management and analysis; perform complex data consolidation and statistical/epidemiological analysis; conduct literature review and result evaluation for research projects; write progress reports and scientific papers for presentation and/or publication; and provide statistical support as needed.

Qualifications: |
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position include advanced knowledge and experience in data processing and manipulation; advanced knowledge and experience in using SAS statistical software to perform various data processing and analysis tasks; knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiologic study design; excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in using large medical records data and using other statistical and database management software packages such as SPSS, R, ACCESS is a plus.
Qualifications include a master degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or health service with extensive experience using SAS programming language. At least three years of working experience in data management and data analysis is needed. Must be a US citizen due to the requirement in the access to some DoD databases.
