Position Description: Responsibilities

The incumbent will support and manage the data flow from the trace elements laboratory (TREL) and the human organic biomonitoring laboratory (HOBL) to investigators, the CHEAR data center, and/or the ECHO data center in support of the labs’ deliverables under the ECHO funding. This includes working with existing staff to identify instrument and/or lab specific needs and subsequent development of a process to move data seamlessly from instruments to the required templates, with a series of built- in checks to ensure data quality before data are released. They will serve as a liaison between the Wadsworth scientists in the targeted core and the admin core, the funded data centers, and the existing infrastructure of the NYS ITS department. The incumbent will be responsible for developing a strong understanding of the data and relationships supporting the DEHS LIMS system (Center Laboratory Information Management System, CLIMS) and integrating the needs of biomonitoring studies such as ECHO into this infrastructure as possible.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in computer science, chemistry, physics or relevant field and three years of environmental data analysis, environmental/clinical laboratory instrumental analysis, data management and quality assurance or related experience; OR a Masters degree in a relevant field and two years experience, or a Doctoral degree in a relevant field and one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of environmental laboratory analysis, quality control, data and workflows. Experience utilizing laboratory instrument software (GC, GCMS, HPLCMS, etc.). Proficiency in developing applications with Python, VBScript, Visual Studio ( or other languages, to manage instrument result data is preferred. Database skills for querying and generating data extracts. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the abilities to work with a diverse group and to multi-task are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will have experience in an analytical laboratory and with computer programming. Experience with Information Technology and/or software development to support laboratory operations is desirable.
