Purpose: This position provides technical and and administrative support for environmental hea health studies to the Statistical Analysis Uni Unit within the Toxicology and Response Sec Section in the Division of Environmental Hea Health at the Michigan Department of Health and and Human Services.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Data entry and data verification. • Organization of electronic and hard c copy project information and documentation. • Making and answering phone calls to r recruit participants into environmental h health studies. • Preparing mailings, including m merging Microsoft Excel data into Word d documents. • Providing technical support in the f formatting and maintenance of Microsoft E Excel and Word documents. • Providing technical support for a arranging internal and external meetings. • Assisting with program related p projects and activities as needed. • General technical and administrative d duties as needed. • Provide additional support to the D Division of Environmental Health as r requested. • Maintain the best interests of MPHI a and MDHHS at all times. • Other duties as assigned.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s deg degree or higher in any field.
Required Skills and Characteristics: • Proficiency in computer applications i including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, W Word, Power Point) and Microsoft Outlook. • Microsoft Word mail merge experience. • Exceptional organizational skills a and attention to detail. • Ability to prioritize and complete a assigned tasks in an accurate and efficient m manner. • Ability to work and communicate e effectively with others in a team e environment. • Motivation to work independently w with minimal supervision. • Ability to work under stress and h handle changing priorities. • Ability to communicate with the p public in a professional and courteous m manner. • Willingness to learn scientific t terminology and concepts. • Commitment to maintaining con confidentiality of data as required by state and and federal laws.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics: • Research experience. • Data management experience, e especially in REDCap and Microsoft Access. • Experience with audio-visual e equipment. • Interest in public health and/or en environmental issues.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Physical requirements consistent with a standard office environment. Regular evening and weekend hours will be required. Transport supplies to sites around the state on an occasional basis. Items and supplies can be bulky and weigh up to 50lbs. May occasionally go door-to-door to engage residents and may be exposed to cold or wet weather conditions. Requires valid vehicle operator’s license and occasional travel withi within the State, including occasional overn overnights or weekends. Less occasionally, trave travel may be required outside the State.
