Position Description: The University of South Florida is seeking to hire up to 2 research associates. Research associates will work as part of a team in a computational human genomics research program developing statistical and/or computational methods for analyzing human genome sequences. A high level of competence is needed in computational skills (such as bioinformatics and mastering programing languages such as Java or Python). A graduate level training in population genetics or bioinformatics or statistical genetics or Java programming experience is preferred. Successful candidates will have considerable latitude to develop and carry forward new, independent projects. The principal duties and obligations of the appointment are to conduct computational human genomics research, prepare research results for annual reports to granting agencies, and publish high quality articles in peer- reviewed research journals.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Sciences and a strong background in bioinformatics, population genetics or molecular evolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have experience working in a bioinformatics research laboratory, working on method/tool development or with extensive method development experience.
