Position Description: The Managing Director of the BHCHP Institute is responsible for coordinating the daily operations and strategically advancing the vision of a multi-disciplinary department, the BHCHP Institute, which includes research assistants, students, data analysts, the quality team, as well as internal and external researchers and policymakers. Working in close collaboration with BHCHP’s senior management team and clinical providers, the Managing Director of the BHCHP Institute works collaboratively to identify gaps in services, health disparities, and opportunities for program evaluation, and seeks to help evolve BHCHP’s care model to address gaps and decrease disparities. This work is achieved through research, program development, project management, quality improvement projects led by the quality team, and internal and external advocacy.

Essential Duties:

**Advancing the Institute’s Vision** • With the Chief Medical Officer, regularly assessing progress towards, and refining strategies for, advancing the broad vision of the BHCHP Institute; • Building and continually evaluating the Institute’s reputational capital and knowledge dissemination efforts, locally and nationally; • Identifying and supporting new funding opportunities to design, rigorously evaluate, and disseminate various elements of BHCHP’s evolving care model; • Preparing Institute updates, strategic and annual plans, budgets, and other briefings for senior leadership, the BHCHP Board of Directors, and other interested parties; • Representing the Institute in external workgroups as needed; • Facilitating Institute strategic planning retreats; • Enhancing the Institute’s website, brand, and online presence.

**Supporting the Institute’s Research Agenda** • Assisting in the planning, development and implementation of the Institute’s research agenda. This will include but not be limited to designing research in response to questions/objectives, in collaboration with the Director of Research and Principal Investigators (internal or external); conducting literature reviews; developing data collection instruments and, when needed, conducting data collection (administrative or through patient contact); constructing, managing and maintaining databases; preparing, filing and monitoring IRB protocols; analyzing and interpreting data; writing manuscripts for submission and publication, and disseminating results/findings from projects and studies, including oral presentations at meetings; • Fostering relationships with outside researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders; • Supporting BHCHP staff who are interested in conducting research; • Assisting in the formulation of the strategic growth plan for BHCHP research activities and overseeing implementation; • Evaluating quality improvement projects, as requested;

**Program Management** • Overseeing daily operation of Institute activities; • Monitoring Institute work load, setting priorities and fielding requests for new projects and collaborations; • Supervising and mentoring the Research Coordinator; • In collaboration with the Institute team, recruiting, orienting and providing ongoing support for student interns, volunteers, and fellows; • Participating in key BHCHP committees, including but not limited to the Management Team, Data Governance Committee, and Quality and Efficiency Committee; • Developing and maintaining relationships with BHCHP IT and Development departments, clinical staff, the Consumer Advisory Board, and others in the program; • Providing project management for clinical redesign efforts or new payment reform activities.

Qualifications: • Master’s degree required in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Work (preferably macro) or related field • Demonstrated knowledge of the use of SAS, SPSS or other statistical analysis programs preferred • At least three years’ experience with data collection, database development, report writing and data analysis is required • Strong theoretical and methodological grounding in public health, epidemiology, macro social work or a related area • Excellent analytic and computer skills including SAS, EMR and data base development, • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills • Organizational and problem-solving skills necessary to function with little supervision • Understanding of homeless and multicultural issues, as well as demonstrated interest in working with an under-served population • Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-oriented organization

Organization Description: The vision of the BHCHP Institute for Research, Quality, and Policy in Homeless Health Care is to become a collaborative center for research, quality, value-based care, writing and ethics, policy and advocacy, and education, with a mission to improve the health of homeless individuals and families.
