Position Description: The Health Agency is recruiting for a Public Health Division Manager for the Health Promotion Division.

The Health Promotion Division provides a range of health education programs and activities aimed at empowering individuals, groups and organizations to take responsibility for adopting healthier behaviors and supporting policies that promote health. These services include, but are not limited to, tobacco/smoking control, wellness (healthy eating and active living), injury prevention, oral health, and special supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Other areas of focus for this position include adopting health in all policies, built environment through coordination with planning and transportation organizations, climate change mitigation and adaptation and social determinants of health such as housing, food security, and safe neighborhoods.

Under the direction of the Health Officer/Public Health Director, plans, organizes and directs the operations, activities and services of the division; coordinates and directs personnel, resources and communications to meet identified County and public health service needs, and ensures effective and efficient division activities; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.

Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate will: Have knowledge of principles and practices of community health education, preferably with a master's degree in Public Health or Community Health Education and be, or able to become at time of hire, a Certified Health Education Specialist; Have strong experience in health education and health promotion programs; Be an excellent communicator, both oral and written, able to present clear and persuasive messages; Be a proven manager with skills in directing plans and operations, employee supervision, data gathering and analysis, fiscal oversight, developing partnerships and working collaboratively with public and private stakeholders; Possess excellent organizational skills and be astute at applying best practices
