Position Description: Purpose of Position: Position will oversee the newly created Community and Health Systems Epidemiology Bureau (CHSEB). A major purpose for the bureau is to determine to what degree the healthcare system can improve health status in New Mexico and will include the existing Health Systems Epidemiology Program (HSEP) and the Community Health Assessment Program (CHAP). The job will oversee activities related to an All Payers' Claims Database and provide leadership, management & analytical expertise, including but not limited to the acquisition of health datasets that assist with population surveillance and assessments of health conditions affecting New Mexicans. Ideal candidate will have experience in managing large datasets, grant/budget management experience, and personnel management/supervisory experience. Position will lead and conduct epidemiological studies using currently available data systems (Hospital Inpatient Discharge Data and Emergency Department data) and newly-emerging data systems (syndromic surveillance and workforce data) to conduct population emerging data systems (syndromic surveillance and workforce data) to conduct population-based health surveillance of New Mexicans; assist in the improvement and maintenance of the New Mexico Indicator Based Information System (NM-IBIS), identify f funding opportunities, and write grant a applications.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from study from an accredited college or university university and eight (8) years of profession professional level experience with a light strategic strategic impact directly related to the purpose of purpose of the position defined by the agency at agency at the time of recruitment.
